De La Paz au Lac Titikaka

La Paz, mythique capitale de Bolivie, immense cuvette perchée entre 3 200 et 4 000 mètres d’altitude, toute de constructions en parpins rouges (non non, on ne parlera pas de ville rose, car ça n'a rien à voir avec Toulouse) est une ville impressionnante mais dénuée de charme! Pour nous La Paz sera aussi synonyme de shopping. Nous n’avions rien acheté en un an de voyage, et bien là y’a pas à dire on s’est bien rattrapé sur l’artisanat bolivien ! Deux jours complets à arpenter LA ruelle commerçante et à négocier comme des chevronnés (on vous rappelle qu’on a voyagé 6 semaines en Inde, ça aide !). Résultat des courses nous voyageons depuis avec un sac en plus !

Mais comme nous n’apprécions pas vraiment les grandes villes, nous n'avons pas prolongé pas notre séjour à La Paz et sommes partis avec nos copines Anne-So et Fanny à Sorata, décrit comme le plus beau village andin de Bolivie. Le village est charmant, mais de là à dire « le plus beau… », on se dit que parfois les rédacteurs des guides touristiques s’enflamment. Sorata aura été un échauffement au trek du Machu Picchu avec une ascension à 4 200 m la tête dans le brouillard. Une ascension difficile et une météo redoutable ! Heureusement, les pâtes maison (comme en Italie, promis !) du restaurant de l’hôtel nous feront oublier cette journée difficile, un régal ! Plus tranquille, mais surtout plus originale, fut notre ballade jusqu’à une cave immense et profonde dans laquelle se trouve un lac souterrain. Et qu’avons-nous fait sur ce lac souterrain ? Du pédalo dans le noir bien sûr ! Quelle drôle d’idée ! Bien sympa en tous cas.

Après avoir retrouvé nos potes venus de France pour un séjour de 3 semaines en Bolivie/Pérou (retrouvailles très sympathiques à l’aéroport), nous quittons une nouvelle fois La Paz pour nous aventurer en VTT sur la célèbre « Route de la mort », en compagnie de Loïc et Anne-So, les deux seuls téméraires de la bande. Départ à 4 700 m d’altitude et arrivée à 1 000 m ! Une descente de malade, avec des pointes à 65 km/h et des ravins à en faire pâlir plus d’un. Aurélien et Loïc auront tenté le diable en suivant le fou-furieux de guide… pas de blessés, justes quelques chutes sans gravité. Enfin il faut tout de même préciser que cette route porte bien son nom, de nombreuses chutes mortelles dans le ravin ont eu lieu et ont encore lieu… C'est avec cette idée en tête, que Anne-So et Navina ont adopté un rythme de croisière plutôt plaisant, mais avec son lot de sensations fortes tout de même !

Pour nous remettre de ces émotions, nous avons pris une journée de repos dans le paisible mais nuageux village de Coroico, à l’entrée de l’Amazonie. Citronniers, avocatiers, bananiers et chants d’oiseaux assurés. Un sacré dépaysement après la chaotique La Paz. Pour notre plus grand bonheur, un restaurateur allemand est installé dans ce village et a su régaler nos papilles avec des Spätzle (pâtes maison allemande) et un Tiroler Kuchen, gâteau allemand dont la grand-mère de Navina a fait sa spécialité !

Dernière étape en Bolivie, mais pas des moindres, le célèbre Lac Titikaka et son Isla del Sol. Comme l’indique son nom, pas un nuage à l’horizon, juste une chaîne de montagne magnifique en toile de fond. Nous avons profité de ce cadre idyllique, avec notre bande de pote, pour faire de belles balades sur l’île et déguster quelques Pisco Sour. Nous n’avons pas joué les Commandant Cousteau et ne rentrons donc pas avec le trésor d’or Inca englouti quelque part au fond du lac. Sur le chemin époustouflant du lac, nous avons fait étape à Copacabana, le vrai, celui qui a donné son nom à une célèbre plage brésilienne, juste le temps de manger une fondue savoyarde, ou plutôt bolivienne ! Vous noterez que nos étapes se font de plus en plus gourmandes, est-ce lié à notre impatience de retrouver la nourriture française ? Certainement...
